On Thursday night, (April 5th to be exact), my roommate Ellie and I were off with Bus2Alps to Croatia, another 12 hour overnight bus ride, but this time it was around the Adriatic sea! We had to stop at border control in Italy to get into Slovenia and the again to get into Croatia at like 3 in the morning, and that wasn't too fun.
At around 7 in the morning, we arrived in raining, Split, Croatia right next to the port, and we were all taken to our hostels. Ellie and I were staying with 6 other girls who all ended up being really sweet, and it was in a hostel all filled with Bus2Alps students, and it happened to be all girls, which ended up being really nice. After taking a nap until around 12, Ellie and I stopped at the fresh market right next to the port to pick up lunch, and then we hiked up the Marjan Hill close to town, and had a late lunch with a view.

Tuna Steak and white wine for dinner!
Day 2 was Saturday, and the weather was expected to be kinda crappy, so we took a ferry boat to Supetar on the Island of Brac. It took about 50 minutes or so, but the fact that we were on a boat on the Adriatic Sea was one of the coolest things ever.
We get to Supetar and its a city not comparable to Split's size. Maybe 3 restaurants, a few souvenir shops, and a lot of residential living. We explored the cute island on the coast and a little bit within the walls and it was so relaxing and so pretty! The rain was definitely coming though so we rushed to the port and ate a late lunch and took the next ferry to Split.
For dinner, Bus2Alps was offering a free bus service to Trogir, a medieval town about 40 min outside of Split for dinner, so Ellie and I decided to join. It was a downpour when we were in Trogir, so we spent most of our time at the restaurant which was partly held outside under umbrellas. From what we could see, the town was definitely comparable to Venice with the narrow walkways and no roads within the old city walls. For dinner, I had a seafood spaghetti, and then we got gelato and were back to Split for an early bedtime.

Day 3 consisted of a pre-planed trip that Ellie and I decided to go on. We left early in the morning to our first destination: Makarska, Croatia. Since it was Easter Sunday, everyone was out and about with their families and on their way to church, so we probably saw the town at one of its liveliest times. Much smaller than Split, it was another town of the coast offering massive mountain ranges behind the town, and crisp blue-green sea water on the other.
Our next stop was in Mostar Bosnia, which was about 3-5 hours away. The drive though was probably the greatest part of it all because we drove on the cliffs against the Adriatic Sea basically the entire way. We were much higher than the coastline and if you looked straight down you could see small towns right on the water with beaches houses and little vespas. We got to see the sun at high noon against the terrain and sea on the way to Bosnia and dusk on the way back. Incredible views.
Upon arriving, it was a downpour and of course I had no umbrella. But Ellie and I just rain to the nearest restaurant for lunch (which was hard enough as it is because everyone was a church and most of the shops and restaurants were closed). We stopped at a small little caffe/bar and fueled up. Luckily it cleared up by the time we were done and we got to see some parts of the town. It was very small and incredibly quaint. The gravel and ground we were walking on were small rocks jutting out of the ground which was hard to get used to haha. But we were able to explore a bit before we were on our way back to Split for the night.

Our last and final day was a quick one before we headed back on our 13 hour bus ride. We met at 8 in the morning and all went to the Krka National Park. It was quite the long wait before we were able to get into the park, but once we did it the wait was totally worth it. The reason why this became a national park was because the government wanted to preserve these waterfalls from the public. Enjoy :)
There was a huge church ceremony within the park lines.
So beautiful!!
